  1. This is such a beautiful story, so I can see why you dedicated your story to Judy. I can’t believe Judy didn’t get to meet Sam though – that fact brought me to tears. Our prison system is so cruel, so I can only imagine that Wrigley was the best thing to happen to Sam in prison. I want to know more!

    1. Melanie, Sam loved working with Wrigley. He’s working with another dog right now too. And you are so right about the prison system. At the Enfield State Prison in Connecticut, recidivism rates are typically 85%. For inmates who work with dogs, training them for the VetDog program, recidivism rates drop to 25%. So. . . yeah.
